A zero-emission, self-sustaining system converting industrial wastewater into green energy

Hend succeeded in developing a zero-emission bioelectrochemical system using microbial fuel cell, based on efficient multi-function composite electrodes for self-sustainable green energy production from wastewater as a main feed. The goal was to create a comprehensive, cost-effective solution to energy, wastewater, and environmental challenges.

This zero-emission, self-sustaining system relies on introducing innovative multi-function MXene-doped nanolayers as cost-effective electrodes. It significantly reduces the capital cost of the  MFC technology by 50%, paving the way for global commercialization of self-sustainable green energy production. This groundbreaking green technology promises to have a positive economic and environmental impact worldwide, mainly benefiting the economies of Gulf countries.
