Medical diagnostic stethoscope driven by Artificial Intelligence for detecting neuropsychiatric disorders using smartphone typing behavior

Hessa’s invention is a novel smartphone application called TypeOfMood that replaces the smartphone keyboard with a new one which collects fine motor parameters of the fingers during typing.

The problem she aims to solve is early detection of neuropsychiatric diseases in the middle east. The remote collection of smartphone interaction data that represent specific, fine-grained behavioral patterns is called Digital Phenotyping.

Through Digital Phenotyping, symptom-specific behavioral patterns related with motor decline in neuropsychiatric disorders are estimated using advanced machine/deep learning methods. The TypeOfMood smartphone application aims to analyze the natural interactions of users with keyboard to detect psychomotor impairment in depression.
