هي بطاقة تعمل إلى حد كبير مثل محافظ الهاتف المحمول. حيث يتم إنجاز العملية عن طريق حمل البطاقة أو الضغط عليها على قارئ بطاقات يدعم خاصية عدم التلامس.
إنها أسرع بما يصل إلى 10 مرات من التمرير أو الإدخال أو استخدام النقود، بالإضافة إلى أنها تحافظ على أمان معلوماتك ويديك بعيداً عن قارئ البطاقات.
تعتبر البطاقات الذكية غير التلامسية طريقة دفع آمنة باستخدام تقنية تحديد تردد الراديو والاتصالات الميدانية القريبة. كما تعتبر طريقة الدفع بدون تلامس طريقة سريعة وسهلة للدفع لأنه لا يتطلب من المستهلكين إدخال رقم التعريف الشخصي فقط.
تتطلب البطاقات غير التلامسية القرب من قارئ البطاقات الآلي لقراءتها، إذ لا يلزم الاتصال المباشر بينهما. حيث تكون البطاقة والقارئ مزودين بهوائيات ويتواصلان باستخدام ترددات الراديو عبر رابط لا تلامسي. وتكون الهوائيات عبارة عن سلك نحاسي يلتف حول حافة البطاقة.
