Dr. Ibrahim Abdelwahab is an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow in the Faculty of Physics of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU). He holds a joint PhD/DIC in physics and chemistry from both Imperial College London and the National University of Singapore, a master’s of nanoscience from Lund University, and a bachelor’s in applied chemistry from Helwan University. His current work represents a new paradigm for ultrathin, efficient nonlinear optical components with a vast number of applications, such as optical modulation, optical switching, bioimaging, frequency conversion, and all-optical signal processing. It achieves this while being cost-effective and easy to interface with typical photon conduits, facilitating large-scale production.
